ColtsTest – Match Rules & Playing Conditions
Match Format
ColtsTest matches are designed to replicate the traditional multi-day Test match format. Each match is played over multiple days (generally 3 days), with each day divided into three structured sessions to provide an authentic long-format cricket experience.

A typical match day will follow the structure below:
-
Player arrival: 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM
-
Team briefing and warm-up: 9:30 AM – 10:00 AM
-
Session 1: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
-
Lunch break: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
-

All players are expected to arrive on time and be ready to participate in the full day’s play.
Player Requirements
Players must:
-
Wear cricket whites (club whites are acceptable)
-
Not wear county pathway or representative kit
-
Bring sufficient food, drinks, and snacks for the entire day, as catering is not provided
Bowling Workload Management
To ensure player safety and balanced participation, the following bowling limits will apply:
-
Maximum overs per spell: 5 overs
-
Maximum overs per day: 10 overs
-
Minimum rest between spells: 15 overs
Team captains and coaches are expected to manage bowlers responsibly in line with these guidelines.
Team Composition & Availability
Teams are selected with the aim of maintaining competitive balance across all match days.
Where a player is unavailable for the full duration of the match, a replacement player may be introduced. Every effort will be made to ensure that replacements are of a comparable standard to maintain fairness.
Wicketkeeper Rotation
Every attempt will be made to have two wicketkeepers in each team. Teams are expected to rotate wicketkeeping duties across sessions to manage workload and provide opportunities for all designated players.
Match Flexibility
In the event that the scheduled match format concludes earlier than expected (e.g. both innings completed ahead of time), the remaining time may be used at the discretion of CricketNext and the host club, in consultation with players.
This may include:
-
Extending the match format by introducing additional innings
-
Playing a limited-overs match (e.g. T20), subject to time availability
Rain & Weather Policy
Weather interruptions are considered an integral part of the multi-day Test match experience and may influence match strategy and outcomes.
-
Play will continue where conditions allow
-
Teams are expected to adapt to interruptions as part of the format
-
If an entire day is lost due to weather, a refund will be issued for that day only
Batting & Bowling Order
-
For the first innings, batting and bowling orders may be pre-determined by the coach
-
For subsequent innings, captains may adjust the batting order in consultation with coaches, based on match situation and strategy
Spirit of the Game
All players are expected to uphold the spirit and traditions of cricket by:
-
Respecting umpires, coaches, and fellow players
-
Playing fairly and competitively
-
Demonstrating positive behaviour on and off the field
Match Status Disclaimer
ColtsTest matches are independent friendly fixtures organised for player experience and enjoyment.
They are not affiliated with any county pathway, selection programme, or official governing body competition.
Health & Safety
Standard health and safety procedures will be implemented by the host club.
